Can't be Beat for the Price!,
May 26, 2008
By CudaSalesfrom Colorado Springs, CO
"I rated this as 5 Stars for Numerous Reasons... 1) Plain and Simply this cannot be beat for the $599 price that we paid from Sears. 2) The quality of the cabinet is Very Good. 3) The Artwork on the Cabinet is Excellent. 4) The instructions/manual are easy to read and very good and does mention to power everything on before you seal the cabinet up as someone else mentioned that it does not say this. 5) The manufacturer includes a few extra screws just n case :) 6) The Controls feel very good and do not feel cheap like many other gaming systems. 7) The monitor is a Flat Screen CRT which is a little more pricey than a standard CRT and looks Great when installed. 8) Has an initial self Test at boot-up and then goes directly into the gaming menu quite quickly. 9) High Quality Leg Levelers and not the cheap low grade stuff. 10) Nice lighted Marquee which makes this system look like a Real Arcade cabinet.
The only drawback is that this does not have a trackball or spinner for games like Tempest and Millipede but this was known before I purchased the cabinet.
For the Sale price of $599 it is a definite BUY!!!"

Great for the gameroom,
May 24, 2008
By Dadiofrom Tustin, CA
"Sears was offering a screaming deal on this machine, so I took a chance. I was going to pick it up myself, but decided to pay the $65 for delivery. Turned out to be a wise choice; this thing is very heavy, and my gameroom is upstairs. Assembly is a long process, but it went together very well. I turned it into a father/son project so he'd have a sense of ownership. Tip 1: Power up the unit and make sure the monitor is turned on before you seal it all up. The instructions said noting about this, and I had to take the back off and remove the monitor to get to the on button. Tip 2: Don't even think about putting this together without an electric screwdriver/drill. Nearly 100 screws! The quality of the video is amazing (in the context of the era of the games) and the selection of games is very good. My 15-year-old son loves it because two of his friends can be playing xbox while another two play the classics."

Great Buy,

"The arcade is easy and fun to assemble (1 hour). It's just a little smaller than a standard arcade game, but we like that is doesn't take up too much room. The games are a blast and exactly the same as they used to be. The only drawbacks are you can't save high scores and there's no trackball or knob for Tempest and Arkanoid. I spoke with Chicago Gaming Company and they will eventually have add-on games and a way to save high scores. We use a dry-erase board for high scores, which is actually more fun for everyone. Well worth $600!"

Very good but not great,

"Very easy to assemble, high quality kit with great controls. Monitor is generic computer monitor, so not original arcade accurate (but at least looks like built-in to the non-arcade fanatics). Sound quality is so-so. Game selection is decent, though lack of track ball/spinner for several games is a drawback. I have another home-built MAME arcade cabinet setup, and it plays many more games, has better sound/graphics, and a trackball, but this thing boots faster, is easier to pick a game, and looks more the part..."

Fun but disppointing,
May 16, 2008
By bbraunfrom Idaho
"The cabinet its self is a little shorter and a little narrower than typical coinop cabinets. It is comfortable for one adult to sit on a stool in front of it, but two adults or standing is a bit awkward. This works out, since there aren't very many simultaneous 2 player games included. Perhaps the most disappointing aspect, it doesn't save high scores. You can get a high score and enter your name, but as soon as you exit the game back to the game menu, or power the unit off, your high score is lost. Additionally, the unit uses a low end VGA CRT, which is great as they are readily available and can be replaced easily. However, the unit that came with mine had poor color convergence resulting in up to 1/4" ghosting on some areas of the CRT. Very distracting when playing certain games. All that said, the controls work pretty well, and the games are of course fun."

Living in the 80's,

"The sale price of $999 made it a pretty good deal to get at least 10 games that I loved playing in my teenage years. If you expect current day graphics, forget it, but the games are just like they originally were. It took about 2 hours to assemble it myself. The pre-drilled holes in the monitor tray didn't line up, but otherwise it was very simple with easy to follow assembly directions."
