"My husbanc bought two of these air conditioners 5 years ago. We used them to cool our old two story farm house. 4 years ago that farm house burned to the ground. Both air conditions were stored in the basement and had been soaked in water and chemicals by the fire department. We had them cleaned and put them in the new house we built that following summer. They have been performing perfectly since that time. Cooling a 2000 square foot home without any problems. They were the only appliance we were able to salvage after the fire and the fact that they continue to work so well has me convinced when we do need new air conditions in the future we will buy Sears again."

"...an AC that does what it's supposed to do! I've been through so many AC's that just don't live up to their promises. I bought this for 3 reasons - name brand, "multi-room" designation, and price. I use it to cool my living room, kitchen and hallway - LR 17x16, KIT 13x13, HALL 10x4. This machine cools the whole area FAST!! And it stays cool! Very easy set-up, too."

"This is one LOUD unit, I read all the reviews I could before purchasing, it seemed like a good buy, perhaps I got a lemon... It does cool very nicely though in a 600 sq foot space with some walls. The only beef I have with it is when I turn it on,the fan, NOT the compressor, makes a loud girggling sound as if it is underpowered. this happens in both cool and fan only modes. Overall, nice unit, but I would've purchased a new LG that I had before."

"All I can say is this beast is worth every dime I spent on it. Its cools my living room, dining room, and kitchen. Basicly the entire first floor of my house. The price is just right at $339.00 you cant go wrong. All I could say is purchase this air conditioner. Besides the cooling capacity the name Kenmore speaks for itself. I still have my old Kenmore Frige 20 years old. My washer 22 years old. Do yourself a favor trust in Kenmore products they are obviously great products. They wear like iron."

"We bought this in June when the weather was very warm. Never turned it off since. Runs quite and have'nt notice much of a change on the power bill. It cools 4 rooms easly. I closed of 2 back rooms that we hardly use. But I think it could cool them too. If your looking for something to cool your 1 story house with this will work. Buy it."

"Love this ac, I didn't know this was a "cabinet" style unit, made it easy to install. (the ac slides out of the metal housing and you install the metal housing cabinet into the window then simply slide the ac unit into the metal housing plug it in and turn it on). It is heavy but very, very quite unlike some of the reviews i read. It cools very well and we use it to cool our whole ranch style house to 70deg on the energy setting. 90deg and humid outside and 70deg and dry inside."

"This is an excellent unit that pushes out a lot of air, quickly cools a large area, and is very quiet. I found it quite easy to install - granted it is heavy but you have to expect that from a large unit such as this. It was average priced for the BTUs and features and I would recommend this unit to friends."

"After reading numerous reviews, we decided on the Kenmore 12,000BTU, as it was thermostatically controlled, and quiet, two features we required. Checked online, for availability within our area, drove in, purchased, picked up, (they even loaded it into our car for us!), all within an hour!! Brought the unit home. We have a large, old farmhouse in Rhode Island, South-facing, with maximum amount of sunlight. Although we are near the water, and have a lovely breeze, the humidity is BRUTAL. My partner works from home during the summer months, so, it is imperative to have a comfortable environment. Installed the unit, in no time. Plugged it in...and VIOLA!! Instant comfort!! The real reason I felt compelled to write, is that we originally placed it in the office, thinking it would absolutely, sufficiently cool that room. But Noooo, it didn´t stop there! It also cools, (to 68degrees), the livingroom, kitchen, sitting room, dining room and bathroom, six rooms!! The entire ground floor, which, mind you, are large rooms, with high, 10foot ceilings!! I am running right back to buy another for the upstairs! Cool. Comfortable. Quiet. Content. Perfect!!"

"Just got the new unit put in just last week. Works great in our diningroom window, cools off most of our ranch home. Installation was not a problem, but you need two people to install it. I've been a kemore appliance buyer for over thirty yrs. and every appliance I have ever bought has lasted at least 20 yrs. Wouldn't buy any other make of appliances. Kenmore keep up the good work!!!"

"I bought this a/c less then two months ago. Finally got into our new home and hooked it all up. Turned it on and nothing but hot air. Called tech to come check it out. I decided to go and buy the exact model again since we couldn't wait. Hooked it all up and again didn't cool just blew hot air. This is twice this happened to me. SO I decided to return it!"

"The unit is very quiet and blows strongly. The installation had some tricky portions and the packing was not protective enough. The unit's insufficient packing resulted in some flexing and shifting. The cabinet was bent in a few areas. I needed to correct the cabinet, and its' tabs, to get the front cover to attach. The packing had 10 #8 screws when the instructions indicate that 13 were needed. Reposition/reangle the power cord to exit out the side. CAREFULLY guide vent tab when applying cover. Overall I am happy with the purchase but plan 45 minutes to install."

"I bought this because I read about the ratings that it received in Consumer Reports. The price was actually $50 cheaper than was reported for this exact model that Consumer Reports tested and recommended. It was very hard to understand the instructions while trying to install it, and after I had it installed, I pressed the power button and it didn't even work! Then when I called the phone number (1-800-4-MY-HOME) to get help, a man named George was the one who answered my call, and as I asked for help, he hung up on me three times! I then told him that I was a male, but after telling him that, he then called me madame."

"We just bought this air conditioner a week or so ago, and it has been excellent. It cools the room to a perfect temperature, and is very quiet for the size of the unit and the amount of airflow that comes out of it. You can't even hear the compressor switch on or off. The fan is very powerful and the remote is very handy. Installation was a bit of a pain, but the slide-out chassis helped a lot. Overall, an excellent buy."

"This is a nice unit, I m using to cool the upstairs of my home, about 800 sq ft. Seems to do so with ease after a couple hours of running. However, the installation instructions were horrible at best. You can find more detailed information in a fortune cookie. I consider myself very handy and these were difficult to follow."

"Now that it is installed I am pleased with the result but the installation was difficult. There are some phillips head screws that were so tight that the removal of some and the installation of others could not be done with a regular screwdriver. I had to obtain one with a side lever for extra leverage to turn the screws. The foam strip to close the gap between the window sashes was too thin and I had to buy a thicker one. The unit is heavy but I was able to lift it into place in the cabinet by myself but I would recommend getting a friend to help with the lifting."

"We just bought this A/c and installed it yeaterday today is 6/6/08 - It is up and running and we are very disturbed by the energy efficient option. The directions say the fan comes on every 3 minutes, Try every 1 minute! It's really annoying. After reading the other reviews no one else brings this up. How can this be energy efficient? I am calling sears today."

"I have this unit in my bedroom, I constantly get up during the night to wack it because of the flimsy chassis it's built on, sears came out and replaced every moving part and it still makes noise. Humming, rattling, and when the compressor kicks on you hear it. I've had many sleepless nights since owning this unit."

"I just bought this Air Conditioner today, and I love it. It is REALLY QUIT!! And it cools my Living room and Kitchen really GREAT. The only thing is, that this Air conditioner uses 15 amp, and its plug into a 15 amp outlet, so I'm going to bump up the breaker to 20 amps, so I don't trip the switch in the fuse box. But thats not a big deal."
